Parts from Bike Bone Yard
« on: July 21, 2009, 01:48:04 PM »
Guys,

Did anyone here tried buying parts for their CBs from Bike Bone Yard (http://www.bikeboneyard.com)? I recently came across Bike Bone Yard from the FAQs listed in our forum and wondering whether any of you guys have pleasant/bad experince in purchasing from them.

Thank You,
CoolGoose.

Make sure that he still has what you need.  I don't know what level he maintains his site at but I saw an old CL175 there that was mostly parted out already...

Genuine good intentions from BBY, but....
Ordered a headlight bucket & run/stop switch, both of which were supposed to be in good condition. The HL bucket showed up, but the run/stop was nowhere to be found.
Brenda apologized, is taking back the HL bucket because it wasn't in the kind of condition that I expected and extending me credit for other parts that she does have... but haven't shown up yet.
Separately, I ordered a spark advance that was as advertised and works fine.

In conclusion, assuming that the "store credit" parts show up and are as advertised, I'd say that they do their best over there.

Thanks SOHC4ever for the info. This really builds my confidence in purchasing from them. Just placed an order for a carb set, both front and rear fenders and airbox  :) Let's see how they arrives!

Thanks everyone for responding with the info.

Happy Riding,
CoolGoose.

I ordered several parts from them recently and it was all good. Not "like new" mind you, but it is a "bone yard" offering. It all worked fine for me and as a small operation (I presume) had decent customer and timely shipping service.

I ordered from them and I'm pretty happy. My only word of advice is to make sure you're clear about what kind of condition you're expecting. I asked about some items and then at the last minute I asked that they throw in a speedo. Well, I never asked about condition and the trip knob is bent and not turning. The speedo works but I was hoping for a working trip odometer as that was what's wrong with the one I already have. I figure it's my fault for not asking about condition, it is a boneyard after all.

Yup I agree with you guys. I asked them for pictures of the parts before I placed order. They (She) did indeed mailed me some pictures and after looking at them, I placed the order  :)

I am not expecting them to be in mint condition but I hope they are in working condition. How long did it take for you to receive the shipment Rat400F?

I'm in Seattle so I'm close to them but IIRC it was less than a week.

UPDATE: The parts that I ordered on credit showed up promptly and as advertised. Bike Boneyard gets thumbs up from me and my bike.
