New toys!
« on: November 07, 2010, 08:43:44 AM »
Well new to me, ;D but older, sun faded, and need some TLC.

I picked these up yesterday, the price was right "FREE" so I couldn't refuse.
They don't need much just cleaning up and some paint, both need carb kits or maybe a whole new carb since they are only $29. for the whole thing...... :D and throttle cables. I got the dirt bik to start, but it floods out, and is at full throttle, the 4wheeler it turns over and has spark but no fuel, needle must be froze shut in the carb.
I know they are cheap Chinese junk, but heck I have two kids, boy, and a girl, she's 3yrs, he's 4yrs old, and both their Bdays are in December, hers 6th, his 16th, and then Christmas..... :o
So I think These will make good presents after I restore them, and add training wheels to the dirt bike.

The dirt bike is a 90cc and the 4wheeler is a 110cc, and man are parts cheap for these, I wish my parts for my bike were this cheap.... In price not quality, like these are..lol

Going to govern them down where they don't go very fast also.
Well guess my build is put on hold for a while until I get these ready, :-[ Wife's orders...... j/k

For sure on the gear!!!
I want to deck them out in all kinds of gear..... ;D it would be funny and also safe!

You are a great father!

Thanks man!
I try but I know I could always improve......
I kinda live through my kids, I want them to have all the things I wanted and didn't have as a kid, but at the same time I don't want spoiled brats, they have to learn responsibility, and respect.
Anyway, I told my wife it's going to be hard for me to hide these and not give them to the kids until Christmas, I'm impatient...... ;D

I worked on the 4wheeler this weekend.

I cleaned the carb up last week, this is what the nice Ethanol gasoline does for engines now days.... Lets put corn in gasoline.... >:( keep the corn farmers in business.....

Had it clean, put it back on and running, I rode it a little bit before I started tearing it down to clean up, paint, and re-weld some things on it, and now after it's all back together the d*mn thing wont run again.
I know it's the same thing again, you have to take all the plastic off to get to the carb, and the handle bars have to come off to get the plastic off, poor design, these things are cheap, but pretty neat... :D

check this monster of an engine out...... ;D but I weigh 165lbs and it would move pretty quick with me on it.

The sight glass was dry rotted and cracked on the master cylinder, I call this my $.10 fix. ;D

Nothing to major, these things are simple, done this in about a day and a half.
Had to order a new carburetor for the dirt bike, the slide or body was egg-shaped and was sticking and would slide.
Can probably be fixed but heck the whole carb new w/s&h was $28.

Well, it runs but rough.... I need to take the carb off again and clean it ::) not looking forward to it, lol
I bought a fuel filter today and a shut off valve.
I noticed when I tore it down to paint everything, the slide in the carb looked like it was jelling up again.... and it had only sit for 2 days since I cleaned it.

Yea, I know what you mean. 4wheeler had wiring problems, and the battery is new but the stock size and goes dead quick, if its cold and doesn't start right up. I did have to install fuel shutoffs, so the carbs wouldn't sit up with gas in them.
The 4wheeler frame I could see it cracking if an adult rode them all the time, the suspension is not good at all, I think it's more for looks.. lol
Good for kids, and cheap for parts as you say, but can get frustrating, if things keep going out oni t and I have to work on them all the time.. :-\
