I would buy that bike in a heartbeat. I love those 450's. Depending how much the guy wants for it and if you really want it. The Yamaha shop here had one. They wanted 500.00 for it. It ran good. I went to go get the cash and when I got back it was gone.

I think the 450 is a nice bike too.  I had a 73 in the day and my only complaint was the vibration at higher speeds which lead me to my first 750.  But they are reliable like the 750.  If it has had some maintenance I think it would be a fun build.  Parts are not overly expensive and are plentiful on eBay.

I think they are solid Honda's. I now have 2 friends with them. One of them just picked his up tonight. I'll be helping him get it sorted out. $300 and it runs and has a tittle. It is all original but has been very neglected. I don't think there is much to really be cautious about.

Yeah I had one back in the 80's...well I had several of them. I bought a 77 F2 right after it. Vibration at 70 is bad on those bikes. Not a long haul bike. But very fun the drive in town. Good torque and fast.

First bike was a '69 CL450, I loved it. I'm actually kind of looking for another, go for it.

Aftermarket parts scene especially for tuning is strong. Be careful about some of the basic stuff though - those transmission bearings are obsolete and limited to NOS supplies where you can find them, as is the crank....

Aside from that they're beautiful bikes to ride hard.  ;D

If it's not too expensive, get it.
Real nice vintage twins.
No real collectibility, though, and not rare or anything.
The only 450's with any sort of collectability are the old 4-speeds, the Police models, and the "D"-models.
Easy to work on and dependable, once you give it good compression.

So, an investment??  No.
Loads of fun and high coolness factor - oh yeah.

I would humbly disagree on the collectability.  Any bike of that era is becoming more valuable as time marches on.

My first bike was a '73 CB450.  Off the line, it would keep up with a CB750K4 (later to also become mine) until I had to shift from first.
