cb550 oil capacity

74 cb550

clymers manual says 3.0-3.2 quarts of oil

i have 3 quarts in and the stick is dry

what gives?

i searched and checked the faq

should be 3.4 quarts.   3.2 liters.

Just keep filling until it reads on the stick.

That is unless you forgot to replace the drain plug and there's a giant puddle of oil on the garage floor. ;)

thanks fellas it showed up at 3.4ish

another question, im using valvoline non-synthetic 10w40 motorcycle oil

ive adjusted the clutch cable to spec then adjusted the clutch adjustment on the cover.
at first the bike would lurch forward with the clutch in in first but not shift to N or 2 3 4 5.  After adjusting it, the bike wont lurch forward anymore, but it still wont shift.  Is the oil the culprit? If not Ill pull the cover and check the clutch.

You should do it the other way around,put max free play in cable,adjust clutch at cover,then cable right above cover,then cable @ handlebar.Good Luck,Bill
