Yeah, I saw bit-n-pieces of the program as I was in and out of the house while the show was on.  Did you see the part about the "Buffalo Chips" place about  miles out of town??? That place looks WAY more fun than Sturgis where just about anything short of murder and selling drugs goes!

Oh, I think I would like to experience it once... I would have to take the 750K4 the first time.... It would be interesting to see how it would be received surrounded by all the HD's and customs and all....Otherwise, the magna would be the bike that I would ride across country living off the bike.  Riding a stock K4 that distance, would be a little hard on this old body....even the magna would take a toll on me.

I rode my fancy Fat Boy but was just another one of the 250,000+ Harleys. Seaweb's 750 got all the attention. I only saw 2 other 750's. A nice looking chop from Colorado and a nice looking 77/78 750F from New Jersey. I'd bet the majority of us Harley riders started on an old Honda.

WOW...that's great to hear....a 40 or so old bike is a hit at sturgis.  Damn, I will probably have to start making plans to go next year. Let's see now..... VMD and Sturgis in '10. Let's all start planning for them now.

I have had a lot of Harley riders tell me I should take my old bike to Sturgis because so many of them started out on one ( CB360). I think any vintage bike would be a hit there.

I was out there for my first time in 1982 on my Yamaha XS650.  Had absolutely no problem and no one gave me any grief over what I rode.  This would have been before the doctors, lawyers, retired folks, and yes the "yuppies" ;D got into the whole Harley thing.  So the crowd was a little more hardcore then.  I remember some guy on one of those 6 cylinder bikes whether a Honda or a Kawi, I can't recall, lite it up and burned rubber down the block and everybody cheered.  Go for it.

Andy,

Stay in touch on 2010. My accommodations have 4 beds. I'd hope to have my restore done by then and I thought about taking it. We haven't discussed any ideas for our 2010 ride yet but I'd love to put the 100hp 750/900 on the dyno drag and surprise some guys.  ;D

I am also thinking about going out in 2010.  Andy, it is a ways off yet but you will probably come by this way so if you need a place to crash let me know.  Maybe I can join you for the ride out from here.  I have done it before in one day but it is a looong day. ;)

Back in the late 70s early 80s you would see between 30 -50 836cc and bigger Honda 750s.. in a day..
Lots of them racing on the street and at the drags..

 fun times,... ;D

Jerry knows this very cool old dude with a house in Spearfish, 20 miles from Strugis.
He goes and hunts critters at his cabin and rents the house out. 2 bedrooms, 3 beds. Very nice place to stay.  The cost was also extremely fair........extremely 8)

Thanks again Rix for the most amazing 3 weeks of my life!
