Do I need to remove the head studs?
« on: November 24, 2005, 06:54:48 AM »
My CB350 Twin engine is completely stripped down. Now it's time for degreasing, pressure cleaning and gasket removing.

You know there are 8 long studs attached to the upper crankcase, to hold the cylinders and head in place. Actually they are inserted, but removing the gasket seems to be easier if they are removed. Is it recommended to remove them or I rather keep them there? A stud remover costs 30 euro, so I would probably try first the two-nuts-tightened-together trick. In case I remove them, is it necessary to use locking compound afterwards?

Leave em in and struggle, they are loctited in and regularly pull out the threads if you try and get them out
