This is my second bike project. My first one was a 1980 Honda CMT400. It was fun while it lasted, but the mistakes I made on it were corrected on my second bike. A 1972 CB750 K2 that I bought on eBay and all of the parts for it.

Bike:                                       $1150 (STEAL!)
Shipping to Florida from Indianna:  $650
Seat (see below for details):        $450
LED Tail Lights:                          $85
New Headlight:                          $80
Front LED Turn Signals:               $70
Mirrors:                                    $35
New Grips:                                $20
New Drag Bars:                          $40
Tank and Side cover Paint:          $200

Total:                                      $2780

All in all, I'm very happy with her. I found out a bike looking as good as she does and with low mikes regularly sells for $3000+. I splurged on the seat, but it's worth EVERY penny. Ted McCarty at www.classiccyclecity.com (or ted@classiccyclecity.com) did an excellent job! Nothing to modify, just take the old seat off at the pins and put his seat on. While ordering the seat, I chose silver lettering to match the bike (he can customize it to any colour). The seat made it easy for the bike to look great. Anyway just a few more modifications (new venom tires, kickstand etc) and I'm done....

Why would anyone spend $8000-$10000 on a POS Sportster is beyond my comprehension, when they can buy a great bike and with minimal work and modifications and make a bike that's truly theirs.....

first pic is of the bike when i bought it (the luggage rack, Vetter Vindicator fairing and dual seat is for sale if anyone is interested)

cheers...I was looking for clean lines and keeping it simple. If you take out the shipping costs, the total price would have been close to $2k..which is very affordable......

they are great seats! I figured I'd start by buying a quality seat and go from there (it was the first thing I bought for the bike).

The first bike I had I made the seat myself. Bought an old pan, fiberglassed a mold, cut the foam and took it to a shop.....

it never looked right. Made the whole bike look cheap, so I wanted to start with a good one this time.

thanks for the comp
A

Nice work, your bike came out great!  How do you like those mirrors?  I've got a set but haven't mounted them yet.
Ride well.

Hi, "A". Thanks for the compliments on the seat. I'm happy that you were pleased with our work.

And you were right... the Silver Logo looks much better with your bike than the default Gold Logo would have. We've also done them with White Logos for a Japanese buyer; they LOVE their white CB750's!  ::)

I don't think anything changes the look of a CB750 better, easier or quicker than mounting a great cafe racer seat, and the Giuliari style seat has been the king of the mountain since the late 1970's.

Beautiful bike. Congrats on a job well done! And thanks again.   ;D  RR (aka Ted)

RR...

your website is down and I didn't see any more seats listed on eBay....do you have a working link that shows the components of the seat? Also maybe pics of other bikes that have used your seat (that the owners put considerably more money into than mine)

A... They're listed under "Giuliari" on feeBay, and have this photo of the components in the listing.

We've shipped these seats all over the world, but unfortunately it seems that people neglect to send pics after they've recieved their seats. I hope it's because they're out riding! So far, everyone has been happy, though...  ;D

Only the Gallery is currently open on the site. The eComm part is coming as soon as possible. RR

Good listing of costs and I like the finished product overall. However I also like the original paint and the stripe it had when you got it. The only criticism Id make is the mirrors look cheap and out of place IMHO but thats just me.

The seat is clearly what makes it and as always Ted makes a great product. And he is right - the Japanese love their white CB750s ;-)

Have fun with it and be careful with those fork ears - the 72s are rare!
cheers
Andy

Very nicely done loaf. I've been eyeballing them seats on eBay for the past couple days. Glad to see you can get something other than the gold lettering. That was the only hiccup I was having with it. Well, that and it's 30% the cost of the bike. Hehe.  ;)

new tires going on this week. My old Honda I put Avons on them, but this one I'm thinking of Perelli's...

Pros and cons to either set?
