I've only got this crappy photo and the description the owner gave me over the phone to go on, but it seems like a pretty good deal at $600. 19K original miles, fairing with lowers, saddlebags and trunk. Don't think the guy knew too much about Hondas, but he did said it does have the original 4-4 pipes, original seat, and original red with gold paint. Its supposedly ran well 3 years ago, but was parked when he bought a harley. Said the paint was faded a bit, anyone have luck refreshing the red paint from that era, or is it a bust the way some of the others like brown and orange are (once its faded, its too late) Wish me luck, this thing is a three-hour drive away, and it will be my first tow with my newly installed hitch on my little 16 year-old Subaru. Anything else I should be on the lookout for with this K1?

It certainly sounds like a great find to me. The price sounds really good even if the bike needs a lot. Don't be upset if the saddle is crunchy and the paint un-recoverable. I'd go as far as to say that even if the engine is locked, you're still in the "reasonable value" category. The pipes are often shot but you can selectively replace for 200 or less each or patch if they've got holes.

Congrats.

You may need the following just to get it on the road: tires, air filter, a carb "go-through", oil change, chain/sprockets...

Yeah, unless this guy has misrepresented it to me, it should be quite the deal. I've got this fleeting hope that its a K0 titled as a 1971 like the K0 I already have. I'm definitely planning on plugs, battery, carb cleaning etc. Look for pics and impressions tomorrow night. Any thoughts on the durability of the red paint?

I came across that one too. I think it needed front brakes, too, if i recall.

I think I'm letting it go....I had dibs on it and was planning on heading over there to pick it up shortly, but just can't bring myself to drive that far without better pictures. Hope another SOHCer gets it. Sorry for the false excitement.

I drove from Eugene, OR to Denver (about 20 hours) to pick up my K1 five years ago after only seeing one crappy picture. I've never regretted making that trip.

Well, if it is any consolation those are not OEM 4 into 4 exhausts on there as the owner told you. You can see that in the pic he gave you. Who knows what other things you would find after a 6 hour jaunt. Sometimes you just have to walk away. I walked away from a K1 in February and found a much better one 2 weeks later. That is my avatar...

Buy it. For $700 you could make that money back easily if it is complete #$%*e and you wind up parting it.

I kind of realized this would just add to my pile of crap that needs handling, like finishing parting out my Suzuki, registering for my last semester of grad school that starts in three weeks etc. The photos don't look like the correct exhaust to me either, but the flakey owner said "yeah they're stacked one on top of the other on each side" he wouldn't tell me how much rust, or how faded the paint was. Probably would have been wise, but hey there are a million bikes out there, and I'm pretty craigslist obsessed, I'll find something. I need to get serious about my K0 project that has been stalled for a year.

Sounds like you have enough on your plate Zoobie, best you fix a few of the bikes you have and register for that course, as someone else said, there are a lot of old Hondas out there.

Fair enough, and I promise not to let any 750K0's or Black Bombers within 5 hours slip past me, sound fair. I'm really hoping and kind of dreading the idea of somebody here buying that thing and posting pics, got to admit I'm still curious. Just so you know, Detroit craigslist, but probably gone by now.

Don,t feel bad about that one Andy,if you like them stock I think there is a better candidate out there for you. BUT i DID hear a deep sigh of RELIEF from your neighbors over there in quiet and idyllic Millwood neighborhood as they thought "another one" was coming in.

Maybe K 1s are falling out of the trees up there..
Around here, cant find them..
I know of one..
one owner
160K on motor
no guages
no tank
no seat...
front part of header
wrong forks..

I offered him 400.00 for it, but he said no..
But I am still working on it, if he does sell, it will probably go to me..used to ride a lot with him.

I guess if you dont really want a K 1, then it does not matter.
