There's no clearance to use the bars as they are, I think ill be using drag bars, the bars as they are are too low for me.

Thanks!!I wanted to use an aluminum swingarm and the ninja arm fits great,
Is an inch or 2 longer, and is set up for a disc if I end up using ninja wheels.

Had to cut up the seat pan a little to make it fit flush, and sit on the frame better.

I will fiberglass the lip back on.

got the headlight mounts in finally, now I can rewire the bike.

not much else to show, just my little bit of progress, it has slowed down a bit due to school

Just a little bit of progress, I picked up a tank at the swap meet last weekend, worked on it a bit over the week.
it still looks like crap, for whatever reason, it just will not look nice on the tank like it did on the side cover and the headlight.

and since I had to move them around, I figured I would take some pics of the fleet.

bikes looking good....  I'm stalled on my 550 right now... ( moving into a new house )... but all the 500/550 threads are making me want to just throw everything in the house and get the garage ready to continue the rebuild..

Different question.... On your KLR.... what paint color do you have on it?  That looks like the IMS tank.. mines black... but it's not painted....  (sorry...not trying to derail the thread)

working on procuring a ninja front end, brakes, rear end, and brakes, and maybe this will be ready to roll when it's nice, warm and sunny out!

Is that top triple upside down?  Is that just mocked up or do you have the bearings installed?  Would like to know the measurements on the stem, like length from base at the lower triple to the top, lower and upper diameters.

it appears to be right side up, as I can see where the risers sit.

it is just mocked up, I plan on using the stem from the original triples, as that will make the transition the easiest.

if i can find my calipers, i will try to get some measurements for you.

well, I found that the stock honda stem fits in the Suzuki tree PERFECTLY!!!

step 1: grind weld, press out Honda stem

step 2: heat up and press stem out of tree, breaking retaining clip that I ddnt know was there....lol

Step 3: tap stem into tree, weld....VOILA!

step 4 will be to powedercoat the triples black, like the old one

Any luck finding the calipers?  Would really like to know the dimensions of that stem.  Regardless, knowing that SV lower fits is wonderful, that really opens up some doors considering how popular the SV/GSXR front ends are.  Also, what year is that front end?

I did the same thing with my 1989 GSXR1100k front end swap, the Honda stem pressed straight into the Suzuki lower clamp.....

no sir, I am going to check @ my parents house when I go use the welder today. I did not forget your request!

Thanks! Eventually i will have a matching rear wheel. The ninja swingarm has a 17 mm axle, as do both 1st gen SV, and some GS500 Wheels, which both match the front. My issue there is they use a 525 chain, and I want to keep it to OEM parts, so that I do not have to custom order wear parts

www.sprocketspecialists.com

Check with them....should be able to get you a sprocket that will work with a 530 chain.  It'll be a custom sprocket, so if you would like to chage your gearing, you can do so at the same time.  More teeth on rear sprocket means quicker acceleration around town, but higher RPM on highway.  Opposite is true with less teeth.

Cool, i am going to see if what the measurements are on the SV rear wheel, see if it even fits in my swingarm, because the guy still had it.

I just hope it's not too wide to make the chain not line up

I just talked to the guy i got my front end from.

The SV wheel from sprocket to rotor is only 7/8" wider than the Stock Honda wheel from sprocket to outer part of brake drum.

This SHOULD work out pretty well, I may need to mount a smaller tire, as the SV uses a 160 rear, and I bet the chain may hit that.

he is going to hook me up with the wheel, a tire (and all the spare rear SV tires I could ever need lol), the rotor, sprocket, all the spacers, and a bunch of other stuff if he can find it.

CycleX have 10 mm offset front and rear sprockets, i will be using a 10mm offset front to get things mated up properly.

Her's a pic
