this is my 550, basically the same thing as 500. I hand made this one. the tail light is mounted on a metal plate welded to the frame cross section. The light is from a 86 honda shadow 1100.

Thanks for the replys. :) That gives me some creative direction/inspiration. I like your build alot shiznits75. Very clean. If you dont mind me asking, are your rims painted or powder coated? Im planning on having my rims be Red on my 500.

they are painted with gloss black epoxy paint. I would powder coat though if you can swing it. It would hold up much better in the long run. if your on a budget, epoxy paint works well, make sure you really spend some time on sanding and prepping your rims to get the best bond.

Im on a budget so I think I will paint mine as well. Couple more q's if you dont mind, did you paint them with them un laced to the hubs? and did you paint them before you got new tires put on? Im trying to get a feel for what the procedure will be on my 500.  ;)

well the best way I think to minimize scratching the paint off would be, install new tires if your planning on tires, keep them deflated , tape the tire off, bearings and valve stem. then paint them. no need to unlace if your just painting.

How do you manage to enter an empty post?

I didn't think it would let you do this?

EDIT: OK, I see what you've done. You need to paste the url of the picture directly between the [IMG] tags.

I've edited your post to show the picture.

Im pretty new to painting rims. Ive never done it before. So, I would have to mask off the spokes as well, correct? and the hub. I will be using a 16" rear wheel on my 500, and im wondering how effectively I can paint it (being that the 16 rim has a raised portion where the spokes attach). Not that it cant be done, but that my skill to paint it and make it look good might not be there. If I can paint the rims with the spokes attached, that would be great! I am on kind of a budget with this bike.

Thanks for posting. It looks like you've put a lot of work into your bike, and it is definitely a one off.  :)

I painted everything including spokes and hub. If you want to keep your spokes chrome, you either have to tape them off or unlace the rim.

This started as a 500/550 seat pan. I added the fiberglass rear pod and tail light, and stitched the cowhide seat myself.
