Seat pans - can you get?
« on: December 16, 2005, 10:04:14 AM »
Here's the deal. The foam and seat cover on my '78 550K are fine. The seat pan is completely rusted around the edges. Is there a source for just the seat pans?

I would say Ebay or the For Sale section on this site would be your best place to start
looking. Not sure if you are gonna find just the pan though, might have to get the
whole seat...

Good Luck........................

what he said...and good luck.  i've been looking for a couple of months...

one thing you might want to do before you start looking is try to learn all you can about the one you have (if it's original) or the one that is supposed to be on it... lots of the seat pans have different patterns on them, little groove or holes in particular places.

this can be important when you are looking at some of the horrible, blurry photos on Ebay...

- and dont forget that after 71 the pans were hinged on the left, not the right side as they were from 69 - 71 and had a different latch...at least on the 750's...

i haven't been able to find a solid pan source, seems hit or miss...

If I have it right, the '77 & '78 550K seats are the only ones that interchange. Do I need the '78 to keep the elevated rear seat?

I have a pan for a k2 750 I could part with if anyone is still interested. Pretty sure it won't fit the 78 550, but will check that out for you early next week.
