Check out my sweet craigslist buy yesterday.
« on: August 09, 2009, 10:17:48 AM »
Just happen to check CL out of the blue to look for project bikes.  I have been looking for a few weeks but finally found a deal.

1980 Kawasaki KZ550 LTD - $130  :o

This was a new riders 1st bike last year and 4 days after he had it running car pulled out infront of him and he layed it down.  Messed up the front brakes, handlebars bent, tach is crunched, and headlight ring is scratched/crunched a bit.  I cant really tell if the forks are still ok still but the motor is amazing.

The bike/motor has around 2500 miles on it and it started strong after a year sitting.  Im sure ill need to get some new float bowl seals and clean the carbs well.

Probably going to chop into a bobber.  I dont know if the cafe look is going to look right on this bike.  Frame is too low around the seat area (but i do have access to lots of metal working/welding supplys  8))  Should be a cool little work on/flip project, already got some buyers.

Sound like you have your work cut out for you.  Can't beat the price.

Just put in an order for all the new parts.  Tires, bars, forks, battery, filters, cables, seals, chain, etc.  Excited to start tearing into this project and flip it.
