Two of my favorite John Hughes movies are "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" and "Uncle Buck" both with the late great John Candy. During the filming of "Breakfast Club" I lived in an apartment complex next door to Maine North Township Highschool which became the fictional 'Shermer High' in the movie. For weeks the film trucks from Paramount and cast trailers sat out in front of the school. Never got to see any of the stars but my old apartment building shows up in some of the background shots!

He definitely left a great legacy.  Some of my favorite movies of all time.

I can never thank him enough for the swimming pool scene with Christie Brinkley.  It was a formative moment in my life! :)

Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

John Candy. I don't know about you Bill, but he was always one of my favorites. I was a fan of his going back to the late 70's when SCTV used to air just before prime time on NBC in Chicago.

i'm with ya on john candy, he was one of the few i would have been happy to meet. as good as he was i think he had more potential still and he seemed to be genuinely down to earth.

i fondly remember sctv as well. between they, snl (original cast), python, and benny hill, i was well cared for.  ;D
