Effect of leaning out carb needles
« on: August 13, 2009, 01:00:10 PM »
Is leaning out the needles 1 notch on a 74 cb750 have a significant difference on midrange tuning??  I have a midrange richness (sooty black). To those that have done this: Will 1 notch be enough or is the difference more subtle (like dark tan to lighter tan in color). Yes I believe that the needles are the problem. I guess the needles could be worn but they didn't appear to be when I cleaned the carbs. I know: try 1 notch and see what happens. Just want to keep the carb on/off madness to a minimum. Thanks

One notch is just a single jet size from what I understand.

120 main jet + one notch = 121.

You would have to consult the carb experts for fine tuning or dyno it at different settings to test for midrange performance.
