Oh how I love to be on the Road again!!!
« on: August 13, 2009, 02:57:42 AM »
Well, it has been a couple of months, give or take, and I finally got almost everything done on the Blue Bomber. The carbs are replaced with good, cleaned, and adjusted ones, Clutch hydraulic system replaced, entire rear brake system replaced, peg and exhaust mounts replaced, pegs replaced with less beat up ones, three out of four turn signal rubber mounts replaced, coil packs replaced, newer fuel pump installed, replaced the entire wiring harness, replaced the fuse panel, replaced the headlight and mounting, replaced the front cowl bracket, replaced the left mirror, fixed the front brake switch, replaced the front brake lever, replaced ALL bulbs, including those in the dash, replaced both radiators and fans and two hoses, replaced the starter and starter solenoid, replaced the positive and negative battery cables, new battery, replaced the shifter and linkage, replaced and rewired the charging system and Reg/Rec, replaced the fuel pump solenoid, replaced the turn signal solenoid, adjusted the drive chain, replaced the chain guard, adjusted the Clip-ons, replaced the front and rear inner fenders, and replaced the brake/tail light housing.

I still have a couple of small things to finish up, I still have no running or tail lights and I need a couple of extension pipes for my new exhaust, but it is on the road, and I have been riding almost daily for 4 days now. I would have been done sooner but I got food poisoning last week and spent 5 days in bed feeling like I was turning inside out, LMAO. The first couple of days was spent taking it around, doing all kinds of road tests, handling is spot on, acceleration is crisp, and it'll stop on a dime and give 9 cents change, lolol. I haven't had this good of a handling bike in a very long time, it goes where I want before I even know I want to go that way, lol. The rear air shock makes it such a smooth ride, even for my considerable bulk. I can ride that bike for hours and never get tired. The seat is newly padded and covered so I get no Glute fatigue. I put over a hundred miles on it over the four days and only went through about a gallon and a half of gas, which is barely a dent in that 5.8 gallon tank. I look to be able to get a bit over 300 miles before I need to start looking for a fill up. One thing I want to look into is different sprockets for it, I can't tell how much room I have in front for a sprocket with one or two extra teeth, but a smaller rear should be no problem to find. My goal is to get as close to a 500 mile bike as possible, and since I am easy on the throttle, it is an attainable goal, I hope.

Once I get the wiring finished I will remount the nose cowl and lower fairing, making it even better looking and more streamlined.

See ya'll later...

Excellent, glad to hear you're riding again!  How's the back and shoulder?
