Well I had planned on meeting 754 up at the flats this week.

Planned it for tuesday.
I must have missed you 754!
Dude, was that your canadian flag chair setup on the bench at GOLDEN EAGLE???
(I think people thought I was crazy for asking where "GOLDENROD was at....)
Anyways...
back to the topic....

I loved it!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife and youngest hated it and my oldest boy had problems with the heat but loved the cars.

I'll edit a lot of really good pics.
There is 2 pictures I have that are saddening...
One of the day before dropped piston motor, and the guys that day motor in the ride that dropped a valve.
But he was making the best of it, and piecing together one good motor.
I need to check what his next days run was(or if he got to run)

Heard SOOO many awesome gear head stories.
Saw more than my share of cool cars in one place.
I saw a few failures, a few records set and met LOTS of cool people.
After a while I was just wandering though.
Even got a pic of me.

Well It will be a bit until I get all the pics re-sized....

Man what a trip. :o  :o

Got in at 3am.. I think.. pouring rain.. >:(..left Twin falls at 11am.

Soos, I dont know if the phone number did not work? Or text?

We were at or near the Goldenhawk liner, most of the day.. 2 Canadian flags mounted on a pole above the trailer, middle of the pits, side closest to the track..We were almost straight line  (to track) from Leslie Porterfield's Fabulous Honda transporter pits.. man, that is the coolest bike pits I have ever seen.. :o :o.. I told her, I thought it was adequate.. ;)

I was informed by Tech, (the crew spent a lot of time with the tech people).. that the pits were 1.6 MILES long.. :o

I ran into a forum member on Sunday?.. he was looking for us the next day, as he threw a chain through his cases on a 77 750K.. >:(.. he posted on here and got some help a chain and patched the cases, and was riding it!.. Hope he makes it back to Ontario.. :o

Saw one other CB750 on the salt, bright yellow with 4-2s, never got a chance to meet them.

We got a truckload of pics, my buddy will maybe sign up an account to post them, We will get them on.. soon.

 ..pretty good adventure...

.. PS.. sleeping on the ground with no Tent is as harsh as it was 20 yrs ago. :o... at least I had an air mattress (that held air all night. :o).. this time..

The camp at BEND IN THE ROAD is fantastic.. probably 1000 people there on Sat night.. Rat Rodz.. Ruled.... ;D

I couldn't get my wifes phone to dial a canadian #, and when I tried using a calling card it wouldn't work with her phone(??)
Texting got the same.
S'alright, I had TONS of fun.

here are todays favorites.
And BTW that "nose" is a STOCK (suzuki I think) 650cc motor stuffed in a 750 frame.
He got clocked at 167 mph.

?? Amazing guy.

The motor damage photos are of that days and the previous days engines.
1st dropped a piston, second dropped a valve.
He was in the midst of fixing the 1st motors head for the next days run with the 2nd motor.

THATS what I call determined.
Doing backyard headwork IN THE DESERT, stuff it together(before the morning), and run balls out.
JUST TO SEE.

:)
The determination, creativity and stories.... I could have stayed the whole week and wanted more.

BTW, sorry for the smudge on most of the pics, guess the lens got dirty.

Soos, pic 3169 was the pit we were in.
We drove out in the black Explorer on the rt side of the pic, my buddy was usually working at the back of it, with the hatch open, and his laptop on the cooler.  Not sure where I wasa when you took that pic.

61.441 mph the plaque says for that 49.9cc bike.
The owner and driver were nowhere to be found at the time.
I would have liked talking to the driver especially.

And in pic #DSCN3144a.JPG  the guy on the right was the driver.
He said that car goes 230+mph.
Amazing talking to those gearheads.

Well Sorry no pics today, gotta get up to be at work at 4am.

B'ville is all about heat..
If you have trouble handling very hot weather it will be harsh..

There is things you can do to prepare & make it liveable.. if you dont , it will be  VERY rough on you..

 Well worth it though..

It not humidity that gets you.

The heat bounces back off the white surfaces.. very easy to burn lower legs and feet!
The white is so blinding at times, that you can barely see.

Of course I do not use sunglasses, pretty well everyone else did.. the worst is around midday.. I would have to shield my eyes. I wore photosun lensess till 3 years ago, so never had to wear shades most of my life.

My skin was pretty good, I was broken in before I got there..

Some people just cant handle it.. heard of one couple went there for a week, the woman lasted 2 hrs & never went back. :o.. stayed in town.

No matter what anyone tells you...you simply will not fully realize what it is like, till you get there, and it will surprise you.

If its under 90 F , it a bit more comfy... but the last night we were there it was 85 at 2AM.. :o

I'll agree if you don't like heat, you might want to watch the pics and videos people capture of the event at Bonneville salt flats.

Personally I didn't think it was too bad. Blindingly white, I would've enjoyed having shades!

But then again I liked going on 200+ mile BICYCLE rides during summer on the eastern side of Wyoming.
Water sources in the middle of B.F.E. wyoming are few and VERY far between.

Anyways.......

more pics!

Ok, more tomorrow.

Ran out of images that have been adjusted in size to fit on the site.
Speaking of that.....

It's about time for another donation to the site.
I'm using plenty of space.
