A Biker is Who I AM

A Biker is Who I AM

I am a biker and that is who I am
Explaining to you would not release you from your can
or your can nots

We live with the same limitations that you do
But we understand what we can do
And can not

I make no excuses for who or for what I am
My vision may not be the one that you share
Or yours one that I care

When you see us on the road
You mind wanders

To what you could have been
Or
What you have not

We are a breed that knows freedom like no other
Ours is not some loose friendship in passing
Rather our fellow riders are brothers

No matter their origin
Their credo
Or their brand

Remember as you see us race by we are on a high
A high like no words can explain.
We are free

This maybe why some hate us

I as a biker am not the popular belief
This is the reason why I ride

We escape your labels and your stereotypes
This is much the reason that the label changes

We are eternal
Our need for the freedom of the road

We know exactly why your dog hangs his head out the window

May we all get to ride forever?

In memory of many fallen riders that we have known over time.

May they get to ride forever on the twisting roads of freedom….

This is special for my bud Steve who was killed by a drunk driver while waiting at a stop light...........
I have spent way too may years denying who and what I am.................

Thanks for putting this up. I lost a couple of friends in high school when they hit a train on their bike and I didn't ride for a long time.
Man, that's been 30 years and I still think about them.

EL CHEAPO~ and to all,

when i was 18... the day of my first and only motorcycle wreck to date... a close friend of mine died while rounding a curve at nearly 120 miles per hour.  we were not together when he died.  for that, i am glad that i did not see his body in pieces.  the thought is more than i want to think about.

i was lucky that day and he was not.  i am sorry for that and often wonder why me.

2 days ago... the young woman (elizabeth) that i have grown to care about was forced off the road by a merging SUV... she is ok, bruises and sprains here and there but no broken bones.  she is lucky.  her VFR is worse for the wear BUT, no motorcycle in the world will ever replace the bond between friends.

love your motorcycles, love your hobby, but above all... love those who you care about.

I lost my little bro and a close cousin in the 80's and I can tell ya....I never mount up without thinkin' of either one of them. They were both good riders but too young to learn that they weren't infalable. You gotta keep on truckin' but don't think for a second that you are going to go too far in years with a carefree attitude like they had.

On the evening of July 2, 1998, Meryl (my one true love) and I were riding home from Owosso, MI.  At an intersection up ahead, a motorist, going the opposite direction, lost control of her car (not known why).  I remember the car passing by me on the opposite shoulder and then suddenly the left front wheel jerked to the left.  The car vaulted accross the road into our lane just behind me.  I remember looking in the rearview mirror and seeing Meryl's headlight being replaced by the taillights of that car.  I lost her that second.  Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her.

Thank you Tom for such wonderful words.  Meryl would have agreed with what was written 100%; as I do.

To all of our fallen fellow motorcyclists; may they ride together forever.

this is in memory of those fallen... right?
how about beers and viffers?   ;D
this post celebrates the idea of the fallen being able to ride again... wherever that may be.  'cept for maybe the beers.   ;)
