As to the Yank(ee) question, Most people never consider it. There does seem to be some leaning towards "all things southern". Southern heritage does seem strong among biker population here also.
Here's confusion...my brothers band is called The Southern Yankees, (Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, etc).
But, my cousin from Australia calls ALL Americans ..Yanks. Hmmm.
