Not that anyone's on the edge of their seats here or anything, but I haven't had the time to re-torque the head and shake it down some more, and I leave the country tomorrow afternoon for 6 weeks. Come June I'd better be riding this goddamn thing!

argh!!

Eh, I'll get it sorted when I get back. If anyone's interested, I've got a tour diary going at: http://paulages.tumblr.com/

If you can make it past the pictures from the motorcycle museum in Austria... we played a gig tonight IN A CASTLE. A medieval bohemian castle.

The castle gig was absolutely #$%*ing epic. Here are a couple pictures of the castle. The first one is from below in the commoners' realm.

Thanks, Aryn! I'm sitting in a beer bar having a pint with the boys in Tallinn, Estonia waiting to play our show. Next one's for you!

Thank you!  Sorry I didn't get back to you on the Portland meetup, but maybe if we all do a get together this summer I'll be able to make it.

It's been a while, and I've not had much to say about the old beast. Oil leak persists, so I decided to dyno it as is before tearing it down and replacing the cylinder block all together. It's running like a mother#$%*er though, and starts first kick, every time.

The dyno results were interesting. The power was exactly the same as it was before the CR29s and the 18cc bump in displacement, but it was WAY too rich. Like four sizes too rich at least, and the smallest mains we had between us were 118s. I'd wager I need to be in the 112 if not 110 range to be dialed in, then we'll see how much power those CRs are adding.

Anyway, it was a bit of a disappointment, but interesting none the less. We also dynoed a customer's bike in which I installed a Webcam 41a cam, stock otherwise. It was also way too rich with 120 mains (making 50 HP... not as much as I'd have expected with that cam) and we had no small rounds small enough either. We driledl six 1" holes in the airbox and picked up 10 HP. The filter seems to be restrictive still at the very top and was still a little rich, but I think 115s will be perfect.

Yeah, yeah... lots of details could be different.

I forgot to mention something. When the bike was on the dyno, you could watch the swingarm flex when under load and approaching peak HP. We noticed the wheel floating to the right at that point, and at first suspected wheel alignment. I stood behind however, and could actually see the swingarm flexing. Note to self... swingarm needs bracing.

If your swingarm bushings are anything like the plastic ones that came out of my 550 swingarm, I'm sure they weren't helping the case either.

They were pretty good when I had the swingarm off last.

The 1978 models of the CB750 had beefier swing arms. Maybe the 77's too?

Paulages' cb735 started life as a CB550, so I don't think the CB750 swingarm would work...too wide.
