CB 650 Gearing ?

I have a 79 650 it is running 4100 rpm at 55mph stock is 16/40 has anyone changed front spocket to a 17 and if so how much did it change RPMs.

That sounds about right for a stock set-up.
Smaller front sprocket will give you quicker off the mark speed but you will suffer on the highway as you will need more revs to keep the same speed.
Smaller back sprocket will give less speed off the lights but will pay back dividend on open road when less revs needed to maintain highway speeds.
Not sure which sprockets are interchangeable, I was told the CB350F would fit our front but don't quote me on that.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I have a 18 in front.  You have to remove or modify the gaurd.  I'm running 3800 rpm at 55.
I also have a 38 tooth rear.  Curently thats all on 80 custom
