rpm at highway speed?

don't have too much experience with these bikes or any for that matter so this is a pretty dumb question:

just wondering what you rpm s are at 65 mph or so.  Mine seems to be between 4 and 6 in 5th gear around that speed and seemed a little higher than I was expecting.

btw Ive got a 77 cb550f.

The engine is barely working at that point. Run it up to 8 grand to get it singing. These bikes are made for high RPM.

That would be the normal range for a 750 and probably a 550 also. We are accustomed to our overdrive equipped cars or big twins. These motors don't make their power under 4K. In normal condition it will run 5K all day and run better for it.
