handle bars
« on: August 19, 2009, 05:45:24 pm »
I want to take my handle bars off, but the wires run through the bars.  Is there some trick to taking them off without having to cut the wires and reconect them?

Dish liquid soap and lots of patience. Maybe applying a little heat would help too.

It's not fun, good luck. :)

First all of those wires are plugged into the main harness inside the headlight bucket. You nee to unplug them all and remove your throttle assembley so you can take the bars completely off the bike. Then with great patience and care and dish soap I don't guess will hurt either, push and pull the wires through the bars. I've done this a few times now and have actualley gotten pretty good at it. Why are you removing them, are you changing bars? Just be patient it can be done.

I am going with the clubman bars.

This is the first bike I have ever owned with wires throught the handle bars.  Seems like a super pain!  But oh well.

Thanks guys!

Well at least you just need to get them out and don't have to worry about running back through. LOL
