Should I swap a '72 500 motor into my '74 550? Power differences?

Bought a 74 550 with a broken cam chain, and have been looking for a good head and planning on splitting the cases and installing a new cam chain etc. Just came across a complete '72 500 motor with good compression etc. How much power would I lose in the swap, noticeable when riding? Just a rear mounting plate would be the only problem right, and I would have the mount that's on the 550 already.

i believe the extra 50cc give you more grunt on the low end, i thats the only difference from what ive heard/read. 550 clutches were better too.

Yeah, the CB500 crashbox is often slandered, compared to the 550 . . it works for me though, but I dunno what I am missing probably, as I only have ridden my CB500 and a '79 CB750 DOHC, so I don't have much to compare it to.

Listed power is same, clutch on 550 is better (yes the 550 mount will fit). Do it and rebuid the 550 at youre leisure
