Air Filter Retaining Clip
« on: April 12, 2015, 07:39:04 PM »
Recently picked up a 76 CB550 and noticed that the air filter was just sitting loosely in the air box.  Haven't been able to locate an air filter retaining clip (part # 17216-323-020) anywhere.  Anyone know where I can find one? Thanks

I made my own using a really long stainless hose clamp and bent it to match the factor unit. .  It was
the correct width, never rusts and retains tension. .

I don't have one.  I notice that the EMGO filters sit very snugly in the box, to the point where it doesn't really need a spring.

That said, if I felt I needed one I'd probably go the route toolguy suggested, either that or jam a piece of scrap wood between the filter and the airbox.

Thanks, guys.  The part is definitely no longer available on every site I've checked.  I figured there would be a bunch guys here with them just laying around, after modifying their bikes.  I had considered jamming something (piece of wood) into the rear of the air box to get a tight fit.  I may try to make one, as toolguy suggested, but I don't have a good picture of what the original part even looked like.  I had seen some UNI filters available on ebay (but wasn't sure if they were a correct part), but will also check out the EMGO filters.
