Buffo,
Yep, I was not sure if I had country spirit or not. I decided I am proud of my heritage, history, culture and other good things about the UK. The recent past though is not so good!
And anyway I thought the helmet was less boring than most of the others and it's an AGV which is OK quality. So, after all that, I am just a shallow poser really!

hey, i heard something on Beeb radio the other night and it made me wonder...

i wonder why do Brit politicians "stand" for elections and Americans "run"?   ;D ;D ;D

junkie,
Yes it does mean that.
However, being pissed here means being drunk, but being angry in the US, I think a new thread could be forming!?

"Standing for election" comes from standing up and being counted ie to put yourself forward in the service of your fellow citizens blah blah

"Running" could have something to do with what you do when the opposition discovers your secret shareholding (stockholding?) in Al Jezirah.

Jim, definitely that lid is not appropriate. You are a respectable seniour, with a non-threatening face, going through the midlife crisis that want to look "dangerous" again. Too late man, you better get yourself a Cabrio like a TR6 or a Midget or MGB. That's what a british gentleman needs... HAHAHAHA

When I bought mine I had a hard time finding a discreet helmet. Finally I bought one with lots of B&W designs but with no patriotical connection. I would proudly wear a helmet with the spanish flag on it. With my red CB750 K1 with gold decals, it would even match the colours -in case you wonder, Spain is a small country southwest of Europe, whose flag consists of three horizontal bands of the same width,  being the middle one yellow and the side ones red-. Unfortunately, wearing a flag has been for a long time related with the fascist party, so people is afraid of wearing them afraid to being taken by fascists -of whom I'm not one, you know I'm a commy according to Terry...;-)-

Raul,
Isn't Spain a little town near Barcelona?  :)
I was afraid of the fascist/national front/football hooligan connection; but I am not one, and I ride an 'old' bike so I thought I would live on the edge for once. Also, the helmet was one of the few that really 'stands out' when you are on the road and gives you a chance of the car driver actually seeing you!

Tell you what, unless your helmet have reflective strips, I've never believed that any car driver will spot a helmet easier than a full human body over a motorcycle with the lights on, so I don't care about wearing a full-black helmet if I feel like doing so.

Being an AGV, it seems that if you can't have the Ducati, at least you have an italian helmet, huh? what about your riding gear? Alpinestars? Dainese?

I have a Premier helmet, a good compromise between quality and price. I was going for the Arai and was ready to bite the bullet -wearing an Arai qualifies you almost instantly as a "true biker" but when I saw the other helmet on the show and checked construction quality and fit, I forgot about the Arai. Premier helmets are made in Italy, the liner is fully detachable for washing, and due to the fact that their logo resembles the Arai logo, from a distance nobody will take you for a "non true biker"... ;-)

Mine is like this.

Well, not exactly as designs change every year but very similar.

Raul

Jim, if you want to piss off a Catalonian, just call him spaniard... There is a big debate nowadays about the independence of Catalonia. Probably, due to the lack of character of our president, the will get it soon...

Raul,
I have never wanted to upset a Catalonian, but if I do I now know how. ;D
I assume you can upset a Basque person the same way?
My riding gear is;
Hein Gericke(German) armoured jacket, red & black, matches the bike; Frank Thomas(English, I think?) armoured knees and hip area, leathers.
I think I will explore the idea of extra reflective strips for the bike? I saw a nasty bike accident last night coming home!
Also, the AGV has a removable lining which a lot of the others don't have!
I have not seen the Premier make before.
Jim.
