I guess one of those new rules might be something about not invading Brazil and killing civilians, misusing our own military and lying to our own citizens, but I guess they can't all be like Iraq.
That which does not kill you leaves cool scabs which turn into awesome scars.

These two have nothing in common.  George Soros is a private citizen and is free to invest his money any way he sees fit.  At least he is not profiting through massive death and destruction as so many conservative linked companies and individuals did during the Iraq War.

It is a very large company and it is very likely that many very wealthy people have large investments in this company.  I even own shares indirectly through a mutual fund.

Now Dick Cheney was Vice President when he lied the country into a war that directly benefited Halliburton  and thus himself where he had been CEO and still maintained ties to.  So how many people died to line Dirty Dick's pocket?  So you tell me what these two have in common.  On one hand we have 4500 dead Americans and up to 100,000 dead Iraqi's.  And what is George Soros supposed to have done?  I guess his crime is that he uses some of his money to support progressive causes.  If he used that money to support the conservatives then it would be okay, huh?

Whats your point..? No one was more full of sh1t than George W and his cronies, actually i think it is a prerequisite to be full of sh1t to become a politician in the first place.

This whole thread is a big reminder of how clueless so many Americans are.  Few are even aware of the Export Import Bank or what it does.  It is much easier to spout bumper sticker slogans just like the title of this thread.
This has nothing to do with drilling for oil here at home.  This is about promoting and selling American goods and services overseas.  This one deal just happens to involve offshore oil drilling.  It is one of hundreds if not thousands of deals that they do each year.    As an example Boeing gets a huge benefit from this program and probably could not compete with Airbus without it.  So much that it was referred to as Boeing's Bank at one time.
Petrobras is going to get this loan, if not from the U.S. Export Bank then the E.U. or maybe China.  The project will go forward wherever the money comes from.  Anyone who invests in Petrobras is doing so betting that this  project will be successful.  It does not matter to the stock where this loan comes from only that it is made.  Wouldn't it be better that it comes from the U.S. Export Bank and then our goods and services are bought and it creates jobs here?  Or is it better to spout off bumper sticker slogans making wild claims and bashing Obama without really understanding the issues involved?

I have been resisting joining this thread but here goes.

This "loan" is good for American, many people across the US are employeed who work for compaines who manufacture high tech oil drilling equipment. Although the major companies are located in Texas, they have plants in many states and those plants "off-load" a good portion of their work to smaller shops all across the US (CA, Mich, Ohio, WI, ID, to name a few). If the money comes from China, only the Chinese will produce this equipment. Many of you need to "Google" oil tools and see how much this industry has changed since the 1980's. Do you think the best software developers work for Microsoft or Google? You would be wrong, the best are working in the oil tool busniness as most equipment is run remotely, making drilling and pumping safer and quicker than ever before.
