I just happened across this titled cl350 frame and couldn't pass on it. I already have a cl parts bike I've been pillaging parts from for my wife's cb350k4 and a total of 2.5 engines. This frame came with the original title from '69. Somebody sand blasted it in preparation for a project but never got started.
The tank is from my parts bike. I'm going to make something out of it, maybe chopper/bobber, I'd really know yet. I was thinking of building a bike with the intentions of using more creativity than money, partly because I like that idea and partly because I have no money but lots of creativity.  

Here it is with the rust


I cleaned the rust and used what primers I had laying around to hopefully slow it down until I can get it cleaned and painted for reals.

       Hey, there's nothing wrong with a start like that. That'll be the kind of bike that will have lots of MEANING to it and I've seen GREAT things come from a sort like that. I can identify with it too, as I have been there myself.    Keep us posted on the progress, okay?

A friend of mine is going to be storing a media blast cabinet in my shop soon so I've got plans for sure. The first thing is to blast the frame and paint it so I can eliminate all the rust. The next thing I hope to do is clean and polish the spare hubs/wheels I have so I can get it mobile. Then onto the engine. I'm sure it will take a few months just to get that far. I'd like to try to build my own girder fork but that might be over my head.
Any way I'll post progress and keep a tally of money spent here so I can see how cheap I can build it.

thanks for the offer I might take you up on that as things move forward.

Something of interest is that the seller gave me a battery eliminator with it. He wasn't sure but he thought it would just take the place of the battery. Any body know anything about these things. I'll post pics of it later.

I'm going to try to build a girder fork as close to this one as I can. After looking at prices I realized I'll have to either make one or give up on the idea.
If anybody has any detailed pics, spec, or plans for a similar fork please let me know.

Cool, my 400f is almost done and pretty much all cafe'd so I was thinking something even less practical and more fun to look at. The 400 is already my small bomb around town bike.

Oh cool, I've been really busy this week but I hope to acquire the aluminum next week after I do some lay out over the weekend. I got my other parts bike taken apart so I can set the engine in this frame.
I'm going to leave the swing arm and just weld in some some new rear down tubes. After looking at the Indian Board trackers I see the frame and engine below the rear tubes so I'm going for the same look.

So here's the angle I think I want the new frame tubes to run down at and from. I have the bike set up on blocks 2" lower than stock. I used some wood scraps to hold the frame and swing arm where I want them so I can measure how long and at what angle the new frame tubes will be. After a bit more lay out I can cut the rear section of the frame off and weld in the new rigid design.

Oh yeah, I'm going try my best to replicate the lines of the Indian Boardtracker I posted. I'm really digging them right now and while I know the 350 isn't going to turn out exactly the same I think I can get it close.

I'm a little slow to stumble on this one but if you're still interested in building a girder for that 350 I'd suggest a look at the blueprints for the Indian Scout girder. Certainly a preference of mine.

And then, the earlier reference to the blade type girder on the Norton is another favorite, but perhaps not so easy to build in that most were a stamped blade, done so in the interest of weight and ease of production. However when bolted to the frame below, I confess to experiencing urges typically reserved for my wife.
