What damaged them? - I cleaned mine up and replaced the valve seals and it runs great! They each had a 1/2 inch of crud on them - but with some elbow grease they shined right up! Are you sure they need to be replaced?

that's ok. i'm slowly coming to grips with "it's a labor of love" but change "love" to "money".
i guess i should focus on painting the tank and side cover now. and try to forget about the serious chunk of cash the engine is costing me.

I've found good used valves at the wrecker.
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

i'm not sure of the part number, you'd have to ask the mechanic at glendale honda.
he's the only one who would work on it in LA.

I would highly recommend Kibblewhite Black Diamond valves:

http://www.blackdiamondvalves.com/search.php?Models=51&Make=7&CatName=

Valves are $24 a piece, but are TOP quality. IMO not worth saving a few $$ on such a critical part.

I got the oversized vallves and bronze valves guides in my CB750.

No valves for the 550 from Kibblewhite.

yeah i guess. i just hate having to rebuild a motor with mostly parts from honda.$$$$$
but at least i won't have to worry about the engine for quite some time. and it will be done correctly.
i guess i should continue with the rest of the refinishing myself.
it just sucks that i could have bought a good bike for the money i'm spending.
