need help fast (new symptoms)
« on: August 22, 2009, 09:25:15 PM »
so i am trying to install my hondaman ignition and if i am reading this right the blue wire from the ignition plugs into the blue wire from the coil, but the wire is way to short to reach that far. Am i installing it at the wrong spot, do i install it at the connection by the battery box?

The wires from the points plate have a junction near the top rear right corner of the engine, at the frame tubes. This is where you unplug the points and coils from each other and plug the Ignition's BLUE, YELLOW, PURPLE and ORANGE wires in. Don't try to plug them in at the coils: that's the wrong place. Only the BLACK wire plugs in at the coils. The GREEN wire MUST ground at the points plate.

If you have new points, be sure to clean those contacts with acetone or something.  ;) They will be greasy with cosmoloene.

Gap the points at .014", then set #1-4 side, and it will run enough to fine-set the rest.

HM,

I grounded mine at the coils and it has worked GREAT for 2 years now.  Isn't a ground a ground?

If you take care of it.

Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
