The '77 750 is ready for the road....mostly
« on: August 22, 2009, 03:49:05 PM »
So I was bored this afternoon and got the camera out.  I recently completed my seat, and got the rear brake pedal fixed, and some other small things.  This is where it will stay, for now.  I do need to get this whole transmission knocking issue figured out though...

Other than that, and a good cleaning, it's good to go... Finally...

Sweet ride.  I reallt like that seat.  Did you trim the stock foam?  I have a 78 750F that didn't come with a seat, or any lights for that matter.  I am in the middle of customizing a 75-76 F seat that didn't have the cowl.  I think it will look similar to an early cb750 seat, but a little more cafe.

Nice clean ride you got there man!

Thanks a lot!  I'm really happy with how it turned out.  Lookin to get some different mirrors for it eventually and probably some smaller turn signals.  Beyond that I love it.  The noise from the transmission has not returned... so I'm not really certain what it was.  My fingers are crossed that it never returns...

hapakev- To make the seat, I made a metal pan roughly the shape I wanted.  I was originally going to trim the stock foam, but then I found an exercise mat, its really high density foam, about 1/2 inch thick and easy to work with.  I cut out 2 pieces of that and glued them together with 3M spray adhesive.  From there I made a cover from some heavy vinyl,  I think marine vinyl?  It originally had some small wrinkles but those have disappeared now that I have started riding it. If you want any photos of the seat, cover, foam, pan, etc I have some and can take more.  Just let me know
