Turd Polishing...
« on: August 21, 2009, 08:43:22 PM »
So today Kit and I decide to hang out and clean my neighbor's carbs.  He has a 1980 CM400 T that hasn't run in about 6 years.  The other night I had a BBQ and all of my forum friends who were there gave it the once over twice.  Suggestions were made and somehow Kit and I volunteered to help him out.  He's a good guy and a friend of mine who just wants to get the bike running again and prolly sell it.  Just gonna share a few of the pics and the ensuing hilarity that was our day.  The bike is not pretty and turd polishing was the only way to describe how either of us felt after using Kit's Hondabrite to give it a shine...

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

That second picture from the top looks like you just buried Kit under a pile of old, dirty bike parts and told her to clean her way out of it! ;D

"And you stay down there til yer done cleaning every last bit."  That's basically what she did, but she was totally up for the task.  I'd even say she was born to polish turds.

Really, really, you're too kind.

Carrie did a great job cleaning and dismantling, we just don't have any photographic proof because I was always sorta too dirty to be handling her camera.

Shut it IC.  I just grabbed it in case... it was never used, not once, on Kit.

No, the stuff your wife used was called "Easy Gets Off."

Kit looks happiest with grease on her hands.

I almost didn't click on this, but the title was way too intriguing  :D  That was nice of you guys to help out a neighbor, kinda spreads the love this forum has to non forum members and hopefully makes people want to be a little nicer and more aware of us on the road!

Love the pics, looks like it was a day of fun!

Your poses in this one remind me of I-gor in the film Young Frankenstein.  "Get me a carburetor I-gor. Yes master".  I just hope you grabbed the normal ones and not the ones marked "Abbynormal". ;D

Nice UW Point shirt.  Skonnie, represent.

Turd, schmurd.  Better living through cheap motorcycles.

Thanks. Before I got swept off to OR, I was really looking at Point- they have a beautiful, beautiful campus.

And let's not even get into the fine Point beer they make there.  Fine country.

I can't think of a better place to get swept off to.  Always thought of Portland as Madison, but as a real city complete with NBA team and better cafes.

The CM400 sounds fun.  I dig my 750, but I'd like to go smaller with the next bike.  Minimalism is everything.

I'm more concerned about the guy behind her about to start break dancing! :D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!
