Topic: Need help determining what size tire to use....

This is for my 66 Suzuki T10 project.  I picked up a parts catalogue and manual, but I think a lot has changed since the mid 60's.    The manual says to use a 3.00" tire.  There is no way the rim is 3 inches wide, do they mean the width of the rubber? 

Does anyone know how this translates into today's tire sizes?  BTW, it has a 17 inch rim.

        Hey, I'm glad I could help. You see, I went through the same deal a few years ago and could not figure out what the Devil I needed for a tire size, by the metric standards. Iwas used to the old 3.00 x 18 or whatever, also.

Hard to believe that most tire places today don't know any of this. But they don't.

I'm one to talk but no one teaches kids anything that doesn't involve the cash register or using a computer.

90/90 would be the closest yes.

Will do!  I plan to tear it down this winter.  Should be a fun little project.
