battery or stator?
« on: August 25, 2009, 02:18:46 PM »
my bike seem to not be charging is there something that could cause my battery to suddenly die? its less than a year old and doesnt seem to hold a charge it will start immediatly after i kill it but when i turn on the bike later it wont even kick... so does a bad battery sound like a logical conclusion?

Could be. Could also be a bad alternator, rectifier/regulator or bad connections.
I would start by fully charging your battery and then hook it up and run it and check your voltage at different RPM settings. That will tell you quite a lot about your electrical system.

Search for some threads involving bad batteries and alternators, it has been covered in the tech forum.
