Any members near Ashburn, VA?
« on: August 10, 2009, 02:38:06 PM »
I made an error bidding on ebay. Did not notice it was local pick up only. Seeing as I am in Portland, OR, this could be a problem for me.
Anyway, if anyone is near there, if I win the auction, I need someone to pick it up for me. Happy to pay for your time, fuel, etc. I'd then need it shipped to me.

Let me know if any of you can do this for me.
Thanks

Hey man, I live in Charlottesville, VA. I won't be back there till next week. Can you give me some more details? Ashland is kind of a haul, but it might be doable. Also, my car's check engine light just came on before I left... actually ON THE WAY to the airport, so I need to get that checked to out know if I could actually make this trip... anyway, more details would be good.

Auction doesn't end for like, 5 days.

It's an electric guitar, and some dumb amp. I don't want the amp, just the guitar.
But yeah, totally into paying gas and time to pick it up if I win it.

That would be freakin awesome.

Ah, little cheapy that plays wonderfully. Yamaha Pacifica. I played one for recording years ago. Was so easy to play, no quirks, and always did exactly what I wanted it to, so I decided to get another.

Bucky, here's the link:

I know, it doesn't look like anything special, and doesn't have the character of lots of other guitars I've owned, but have you played one of these?

the only thing that matters to me with a guitar is how it plays. i just got a Jay Turser telecaster this afternoon in trade for a danelectro chorus pedal. it's seen some use ans abuse but it still has great action. i popped in a pair of lipstick pickups as soon as i got it home.

Okay, I have plugged it all up and as someone who knows little to nothing about electrics, It seems good.  The strings seem a bit heavy.  They are a bit larger gauge than the ones on my acoustic.

With this amp here, I was finally able to test the make shift pickup I installed in my acoustic years ago.  It was a pickup made for a harmonica.  I thought it would do okay.  I was wrong.  It is still a decent sounding acoustic, so...oh well.  My hope is to one day soon get an acoustic bass guitar.  Most all of those I've seen have pickups built in.  Maybe this amp will do for that.
