Bike is coming together ('76 CB550F Rebuild)
« on: August 26, 2009, 05:15:37 PM »
Alright, as some of you might already from my various threads of "How do you do this" or "Where does this go" that I am putting my 550 back together. Here are some photos taken moments ago, and I plan to get the engine in one piece tonight. All these pictures are 1600x1200 so they'll load slow, but you can view larger photos by right clickin on em, should be an option for view image.

As it currently sits:

New gasket, o-rings and piston rings in place, with my hose clamp ring compressors on, and piston bases I fashioned from a 2 foot steel shelf piece:

Shot of the block, head, cam cover, I painted just yesterday as well as polished breather cover:

I ordered a stainless, polished hex bolt set from www.stainlesscycle.com here is how they look so far:

Here is a mock up with the tank:

Next step will be to install the block over the pistons, then the cam chain guide and tensioner, then the head and so on. I'll keep updating when I make progress, and, I might have a few more questions as things move along, as usual this being my first rebuild  8)
