Fuel line routing
« on: August 27, 2009, 07:39:13 PM »
I'm brand new to this... I've recently picked up an '80 CB650C as a project bike and found some excellent information on this site.  It helped me greatly to replace the starter clutch but I'm having trouble with probably the simplest thing: I do not know how to route the fuel lines.  I just can't seem to find the information - can anyone point me inthe right direction or have some photos for reference?

Also, I have two sets of carbs -the mechanical ones and the diaphragm ones - both seem to be in good shape (although desperatley need a cleaning) but which one is better?

Cheers.

Route your fuel line so that it has no high points.  In other words, the line should be always on a down slope, never vectoring upwards.  A high point can cause an air bubble to form and block fuel flow.  Also, inspect/replace your in-tank filter and forget that in-line filter you have been considering.

Welcome to the forum by the way!
Can I have a motorcycle when I get old enough?
If you take care of it.
What do you have to do?
Lot’s of things. You’ve been watching me.
Will you show me all of them?
Sure.
Is it hard?
Not if you have the right attitudes. It’s having the right attitudes that’s hard.
