Oddball engine question
« on: August 29, 2009, 12:25:02 PM »
Ok, since I had to park my bike for the summer and it will take me a while to get my engine rebuilt the way I want it (damn grinding noise from the crankcase).  Anyone have a clue how hard it would be to drop a DOHC 750 engine in for a summer?  My dad has a spare one sitting under his garage steps and I would like to be able to ride next year even if the engine in my bike has 1 to many cams in it.  I'm guessing the ignition & carbs will be the hardest part since the DOHC engines use the stupid ignitor boxes.  Carbs will require a trip to the junk yard or a piece of steel to make a new bracket to mount them all on.

Pretty sure it's too tall to fit in the sohc4 frame.
Also, mounting points are totally different.
No.

The mounting points won't be an issue, my dad has a welder.  I guess I'll have to measure his engine and my engine to see if it will fit. If not I might be without a ridable bike for a while :(
