New purchase- with pictures
« on: August 28, 2009, 04:36:42 PM »
Posted a question a couple of weeks ago that I found a mint 1964 Suzuki T10. Not my dream bike, but had to buy it because of the condition (even my wife agreed) . Family owned since 1968. All original paint and chrome and runs excellent. Spent a week of evenings changing fluids, servicing exhaust and cables, detailing and now it's time to ride. :D :D[/url]http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd131/grumburg/?action=view&current=t102.jpg

Now I see the interest in my post. That bike is beautiful!!! Same color too! Mine is 66, but the parts bike I have is a 64.

I will likely be bothering you over the winter. ;D

Mine is also titled as a 1966, but Suzuki.com states the only year imported was 1964. Ohio titled as year sold, not year manufactured. My 1964 Vespa is also titled '66, even though built in '64. Must not have been hot sellers. :P

Have you been able to find much info on them? I have only been able to find hit and miss info. Some info stated that these where designed from their 50's race bikes and converted into cruisers. Sounds funny to call it a cruiser when here in Milw the baggers are almost as big as cars.

Have you ridden it yet? It's like ridding a chain saw. LOL!!

BTW, can you shoot me some more pics? Close ups of the head, exhaust joints, etc...?

Thanks!

Hit or miss at best. Found additional info under "Colleda", Weren't called Suzukis until '63. My X6 feels like a Hayabusa in comparison, but I just tuned with new plugs, points, timing and fuel. Should run better, just finished tonight. Certainly starts and idles better. Going to go for a shakedown Sunday.

Alot of nice pics of your bikes! I would love to have some of the old chrome tanked bikes to restore.

How times change. When I started riding in the '70s, chrome tanks were considered uncool and only rode one if you could not afford anything better.

Got them! I just can not get over how clean that bike is!!!

Does it have the oil bottle and tool kit under the side cover? Is there anything else? There is a clip on the inside top of mine and I'm not sure what goes there.

I have the tool kit (appears to have never been used), but no oil bottle. Which side is the clip on?

Bobby: Took it for a 50 mile ride on the country roads yesterday and it ran great. Only thing missing is the short shaft and the handle for the choke that goes through the left carb cover. Would you have an extra from your parts bike?

I might? I know that I lost the screw for that handle and found the handle in my driveway last week. :-[

I'll check it out in the morning.
