love the look of those early yammy 650's. must say I prefer the green ones though.

I was tempted to go buy one of these (an XS1b) last week. Looked clean, low miles all original, asking $1400, 4 hours away though. probably missed a chance to make a few bucks.

I saw a green one in very nice original shape go for $4200 a while back.  Every month or so one pops up on the local CL.  A nice red 72 was listed recently for $800 :o :o and sold within an hour.  Just missed that one by about 30 minutes.  I thought long and hard about what year I wanted and settled on a 75 I recently picked up.  Much better frame than the 70-73 models but I m still keeping my eye out for an XS1or XS2 if I can find a good steal.

Carefull with XS1 as all the cam drive stuff is different

That is
Crank sprocket(or rather crank)
cam sprocket(or rather Cam)
Cam chain
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Nope, I'm not crazy about the color either. I was kinda looking for a local Daily rider, that I wouldn't mind putting some miles on, "And that ain't it!' Went for the CB650C that I found that was only about 20 minutes away and for lots less money as well. ;)

sweet looking motorcycle. a cafe tail, rearsets and some clip-ons would make it look even better

Aww jeez, that would be little more than butchery on a XS1 in that good of shape.
