  • I've UPGRADED to a '99 BMW R1100S
Rotor Drilling

I have tried to contact Annibus (ElCheapo) about getting the rotors drilled for my '77 CB750F, but have not heard back.

Does anyone know of another outlet for this?

Have you tried getting a new rotor that has been drilled and slotted already off the bay?

he did a top notch drill/chamfer/resurface job on mine. ;D

Im doing a run of 750F rotors. Ill shoot you some pics when i get them back. I have a set on my bike that i did.

I dont think it does anything because the rotor isnt vented. Or does it?

the cross drilled wholes are to exhaust the brake pad gas between the pad and the rotor, so the pad has better contact with the rotor. And if its not vented then the brake pad gas doesnt have any where to go anyways.

either way it looks cool.  ;D

You answered your own question?

They don't need to be vented, like a slot would do, the holes simply store the gas until the rotor turns past the pads, then the gas escapes.  Debris and water as well.

They also make it lighter which goes to unsprung weight.

THen there's that coolness issue too.   :D

Weight loss at the hub of a wheel is different from weight loss else where.

Meh, that looks close to the patern I drew up and have pdf's available for in the main website to download for DIY'ers..
Did I mention that I made several types of patterns so one could drill them themselves and save some cash for more NOS parts...Here ya go.

Don't think it matters as long as you drill slow and don't bend them.  You don't want to muck up a rotor, or any braking component.

And use a quality bit... NO HARBOR FREIGHT. ;)

it definitely matters ... use a drill press !!!     it'll never happen by hand ....   you would give up long before finishing

French curves would help; along with other artsy stuff.  But you could get by with a good ruler.

IDK I have a half horse Craftsman drill from the 50s that would put some modern presses to shame. :D

ok i suppose it's "possible"   but it would take FOREVER ... not to mention, you'd probably have to stop a bunch of times to let the rotor cool down
