2009 Indy MotoGP update
« on: September 01, 2009, 12:37:59 PM »
I didn't make it in 08, but this years event was great. Say what you want about the track for GP bikes, but the facility is great and the folks that run operations know how to handle much larger crowds than show up for bike races on this continent. Kudos to the Speedway people.

I don't need to speak about the racing, those who wanted to could watch that. What you wouldn't see was a very nice CR750 in the Honda display, or Kenny Roberts do a couple hot laps on his old TZ750 at the Indy Mile flat track racing over at the state fair grounds, (Later, around midnight Ben Bostrom took a couple laps also!) or James Toseland making music with his band Saturday after qualifying. Yea there were lots of cool things going on.

Pretty cool event, lots of knowledgable race fans from all over the world, think I'll go next year.

Oh and there was this Speed Girl dying to have her picture taken with us. I'm the skinny young guy in the shorts....and no we're not short, she is reeeaaally tall.  ;D  ::)

I was there also, great time and with the exception of Friday night we stayed dry. Too bad Dani Pedrosa crashed, he dominated the weekend and was coming off a recent win getting Honda back on track.
Loved the Flat track race Saturday night, thought Kenny was going to lose that 750 going into turn 1 on the second lap, nothing like the smell of a 2 stroke on racing fuel!

Oh yea KR didn't hold up on that thing, he surprised the hell out of me. I quess when ya got it, ya got it!

Did you stay long enough to see Bostrom do a couple laps? It must have been around midnight and he had it on the boil too.

I never got a lap time on Pedrosa after he picked it up and continued, but he definitely was the fastest rider all weekend.

No we left the flat track around 11:30, suprised how cold it was, we came home Sunday night after the MotoGP feature, left Indy a 5:00 PM and pulled into the garage at 3:15 AM, it was a chilly ride. Had to work Monday. >:(
