Topic: 1976 cb750 electrical fire :(

Hello everyone...thank god this great message board is back...If it wern't for Elgin I would have never have founbd the new site. Thank You Elgin. I suffered an electrical fire yesterday and neeed to install a new wiring harness and rectifier. I got both parts but ran into a problem. There are 2 wires that run off the wiring harness that I have no idea where they go. They are in the are of the electrical box. One is a red wire that splits off the thick red/white wire that goes to the positive battery clamp and starter. The gauge is not as thick as the red/white and the tip has the classic female flat connector that would slide over a male connector. The other is green same gauge same connector and was hanging next to the 2 wires that plug into the flasher relay for the turn signals. If any one knows where these go or could maybe snap a photoi of there 75 or 76 electrical tray and email it to me I would be very happy. Hope to get back on the road soon.

If I recall correctly, there was a "spare" ground lead with a 0.25 x 0.032" female quick disconnect spade lug ("faston") behind the electrical panel of my '76 CB550k. This also shows up in the factory wiring diagram as a ground lead going nowhere. No clue why.
The red wire that connects to the red/white wire likely connects to the red wire that goes all the way up to the ignition switch, look for a red wire that has a male .25" quick disconnect to connect to it. There'd be no reason to leave a "hot" wire hanging like that, there's got to be something into which it plugs.
