Topic: Today's mystery object - headlight brackets, but for which model

I have a CB750k7 and I sent the headlight brackets away to be re-chromed, but when they came back the indicator stalks were missing. A bit annoying to say theleast. However, I managed to track down another pair stalks, but when I came to fitting the brackets back on the bike they wouldn't fit. Why me? So I'm begining to think that the brackets I sent away to be chromed are not the ones that have returned. The question is what model are these from if not a K7?

I have a set from a 78 GL1000 here that are identical to yours, including the length. They might fit something else, but I'm sure they came off a 78 GL1000

Those are 75-79 GL1000.

So you sent your brackets out for chroming and they apparently returned the wrong brackets and you don't have a problem with this?

I am thinking the same thing!!!
He needs to call the Plater and let them know right away. A GL1000 owner is probably hoping that whoever got them will do the right thing and return them to the rightful owner.

I certainly do have a problem with this, but thanks to the other people who responded I'm in a better position to track down the owner of the brackets I have and maybe I might get mine back.

I know they did not show chrome the inside but in that second pic. they sure didn't come out to well. I would think they could do better than that. Maybe I am to picky

+1 on show chrome?? I know that anything to be chromed almost has to have a PERFECT clean and polish on it for the chrome to be PERFECT!!!   The chromer should have at the minimum taken a small rotary brush and cleaned the rust away!!  A GOOD chrome dip should have plated that area also!!!

Sorry, your previous posts didn't give any indication of your intentions and generally in a situation such as this most people would be expressing more discontent than was apparent in your posts.    I hope the chromer can help you make it right.

No it is not I will tell you what I think in a respectfull manner. To much (PC) crap going on. Are you one of those people that don't keep score at the kids games so everyone goes home a winner. Don't want the little kids to know what is like to lose now do we. Grow some hide. Do the right thing send the part back and ask for yours it is in the chromers hands then.
