Mac Motorcycles

A while back I posted about this fledgling Brit company. These back to basics bikes (like that?) were to be powered by the Buell Blast thumper; I wrote them recently wondering about the latest news and it turns out the Blast is to be discontinued (shame). Below is the letter and based on the banter before (I'm so clever) there was an interest in the choice of engines. Let them know your two cents.

Dear Bill

We were just about to fill our sheds with Buell Blast motors when Mr Buell announced the demise of the Buell Blast.

As you know, we have designed our four Mac motorbikes around the Blast motor and the Blast’s withdrawal from Buell’s range means we need to find an alternative.

In keeping with Mac’s philosophy, we would like your input again.

We have attached a picture of what our Mac ‘Spud’ motorcycle would look like powered by a liquid-cooled Yamaha XT 660 motor and we’d really like to know what you think. This link will take you to the page on our website;

http://www.mac-motorcycles.com/topsecret/

As you would expect, there are a few changes to the specification and performance, as follows;

The standard XT 660 motor produces 48 BHP (compared to the 34 BHP of the standard Buell Blast motor)

The XT 660 motor is liquid-cooled and fuel-injected.

Engine servicing and spares are readily available from Yamaha’s dealer network.

At this stage, we expect the price of Mac Motorcycles to remain consistent with previously published figures.

We’d really appreciate your thoughts, when you get a moment; your feedback is invaluable to us.

With our sincerest thanks for your continued support.

Absolute little hellion engines.

funny you should mention that. i just emailed suggesting there might be a suitable motor in the moto ranks. but my suggestion was motivated by the interest in air cooled motors.

There's a guy at the track out here with, I think, an aprillia rs125 frame and a built crf450 engine in it. Absolutely wicked track bike.
No.

I really like those bikes. I hadnt heard of them before. My 3 year old son and I pick the Roarer. The only thing missing is some PeaShooter or reverse cone mufflers.If I could photoshop something like that I would. Go Norton style low header and high on the exhaust. Yamaha for sure on the motor. I have a really bad taste on the new American Honda and their customer service  >:(. Socherio is probably rolling in his grave,  cant wait to unload my  08crf230L I bought it as a commuter early last year when gas was $4.00 a gallon and my 75cb550f was in pieces ............  again  ;D.  It does keep the miles off the classic and something to ride when she is down. Not a bit of trouble with mine gets 75 mpg, and it is a good bike,but others on another forum would beg to differ

hopefully when these guys get going there will be interchangeability among models and some equipment options. personalizing would increase desire for mac.
