Can I get away with a simple Craftsman ATV/Moto jack to do most of the work needed on a bike restore?

i use one I bought at harbor freight for 80 bucks. works really well.

If you look at the reviews on the craftsman.com website, you'll see that their cheaper model (the red one) is not well liked.  I believe their high end model (the yellow one) is much better liked.

I've got the red one and have no issues with it.
I picked it up from a local ebay seller new in the box for $50, check your local craigslist too.

I have this HF model.  It works fine, have lifted many bikes with it.  Right now my 78K is sitting on it up in the air, been that way for weeks!

It usually goes on sale for around $50.  If you got to the HF web site and sign up for their e-mails, pretty shortly you'll get an e-mail for 20% off any one item.  So you wind up getting it for $40.

i have that 299 dollar one from harbor frieght in my garage and i love it. i have an old swivel, wheeled desk chair on either side of it. i've had some large, heavy bikes on it too. like a friends k1100lt beemer and a yammy xs850sg

I have the red Cdn Tire jack - no issues.  I made an adaptor so it would fit my CB750 with 4-1 pipe.
