So I'm at Auto zone yesterday picking up a fuel pump for my car, and riding my 77 550K.  While I'm there, a guy rides up on a chromed out chopper and comes in to buy oil (no suprise there).
We leave the store at about the same time, and as I'm climbing on my bike, a truck pulls up and yells "what a cool bike - what is it?"

The guy on the chopper turns around and says "Iron Horse".

The guy in the truck says "not you, I meant the cool old bike!"

Life is good.

This story is great!

In my town, there are always two or three HD guys parked in town and sitting on a bench just watching traffic.  I want to stop and chat, but I always end up just driving by.  Some HD guys can really be snobs, and when they gather together, the snobbery seems to escalate.  I'm afraid if I stop and talk, they might turn out to be the snobby type and it would just ruin my day.  It sucks that I have to be afraid to stop and talk.

On the other hand, I did chase down three crotch rockets this last weekend and chatted up with them.   :)

a gal pal of mine has a boyfriend who rides a harley, and he's no snob. i know an artist who is of similar mind.

yet, i had a friend who had a harley eagle logo tattoo literally cover his back. he never has owned a hd yet he razzed me about my first honda. what a poser.

i see no problem with thinking your brand is the best, that's not snobbery, but thinking the other is contemptible is. hopefully the snobs will be marginalized.

btw: i rather have a lamborghini than a harley.  ;D

i'm with you.  I desire a 65 electraglide. kind of a bastard year with it being the last of the panheads and the first electric start 2 wheeler harley built (the servi-car turned electric start in..............63?)

Geez, I forgot all about the E-start piewagons.. :-[

A guy up here just scored a 73 or 74 Servi with the Alternator, has no carb and one fender crunched.. full Vancouver Police gear on it (not sure about radio).. pretty freaking cool, sat since anout 68 when it got hit..

.. just about cried when I saw a guy post on here that he traded a 69 E-glide project for/on his 550.. geez thats anice motor for a chopper..(stock frame, bit-o-rake- stripped glide, shotgun pipes..mmmmm) L series S&S....
