Did I Miss Something, I Can't Find troppo???
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:49:28 AM »

I was just browsing the posts under the Putting yourself on the map, under the Open Forum and ran across several from troppo and his avatar indicates he's a GUEST?

Then, I also saw some of martino1972, that showed HIM as a guest also. But, a little further on, I saw where martino's showed like it should, being a member here. What's going on? I went to the member list and tried to find troppo with no luck (of course). Anybody have a clue what happened? I just have to assume that I musta missed something here. ??? ::)

This forum is different from most in that we can change our usernames, and we also have the ability to delete our accounts.  I'm still not convinced this is a good idea.  Changing usernames gets confusing, and people deleting their accounts leads to confusion like you mentioned above.

Sometimes I'm tempted to change my username (because I'm not sure I can live up to the one I presently have), but in the end I resist the temptation.

Yeah, I HAVE seen that happen. I don't know if that is the case here or not. If troppo is still around, but under a different name, I hope he'll PM me. I enjoy conversation with a large number of folks here AND he is one of them. I have sometimes overlooked a response from some individuals (although not on purpose) and may have made it seem like their opinions don't matter, but they do, I'm just not very thorough sometimes. Have NO idea if that's what happened in his case or what. To ME, it's a sad thing when someone just closes shop and goes away. I've (and I'm sure you all) have seen folks go away, all of a sudden and there's NO WAY that most of us could ever look them up because of the distance. THAT is ONE thing I don't like about the net. I LIKE being able to meet and have conversation with folks all over the world, even though the chances of ever meeting them in person is next to none. Oh well, I've got to get out of here and take care of some things.

                                     Take care all, Bill ;)

So it seems, Tim.  Sure makes it hard to keep up.
