'78 CB550K, can I use CB500 exhaust?
« on: December 03, 2005, 01:27:00 PM »
The header pipes on my '78 CB550K are pretty rusty. My local boneyard has a CB500K with an excellent system. I have done a web search and see tht they carry different numbers, I also notice that aftermarket 4 nto 1 systems say they will fit the 500 & 550.

So my guestion, will the '73 system fit my '78.

They will fit onto the engine ports.  But, the hangers on the frame and possibly the center stand rests are different.  Can probably make adapter brackets.

As Lloyd says

+ the sidestand is much further back on the 550 so the "gap" between pipes 1/2 (where the stand fits) is different.  When the 4-1 manufactures say "fit 500/550" they're OK because the sidestand isn't affected by a 4-1.
