Guitar Search...Calling all Guitars guys
« on: August 08, 2009, 06:41:17 PM »
Today I played a Peavey guitar, it was awesome. But I cannot find any information on it anywhere!
It was shaped like the Ernie Ball EVH models, but is not a Peavey EVH. It has two Humbuckers and a single coil in the middle.
It was black, did not appear to be flamed, with white binding around the edge, floyd rose type bridge. Made in china and retails for around $500.

Any help in locating info on this guitar would be greatly appreciated.

It is probably a Wolfgang model.  They came in a variety of configs.  The license had probably run out for Eddie and Peavey is whacking them out in China for cheap.

Hi Bucky, its a shame you have missed the boat on Japanese guitars. I have been buying them for the last 5-6 years but everyone is onto them now so the prices are going through the roof. None of my LP's are Gibson, i have owned quite a few Gibbo LP's and the quality is so inconsistent and prices are so high that i just can't justify owning any any more. 2 of my Japanese LP's are all Honduras mahogany with nitro finish fret edge binding and long tenon deep joints just like the real 59's, same neck size as well, not the huge 58's or small 60's but the "just right" 59's. I paid a grand US for the cherry sunburst and $695 US for the gold top and they are both incredible guitars. I also have another 6 Japanese LP's and they are all great guitars.

If you are interested i will send you some info on them.

I just sold my Peavey, they are a bit rare here in NZ and it was a very nice gat but I only ever pulled it out occasionally and get more out of my acustics.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

my les paul is an epi, my hardtail strat is japanese made, so is my epi 12 string acoustic. at my skill level theres no reason at all for me to have the high dollar american made models. i understand that the necks are a real problem area on the gibsons, right where the headstock joins the neck. i think my danelectro Hodad is korean made but is my absolute favourite guitar, it has sweet, low action, no fret buzz and i LOVE the sound of those lipstick pickups with the coil tap and isolator pots. dunno where you got the idea i didnt like the asian made guitars, i actually PREFER the cheaper model guitars. the only problem i've really had with the lower end guitars is the tuners, i HATE the tuners that are on my epi lp special II  ;D the tuners on my jap strat and the korean made dano are excellent tuners. the strat has the fender vintage style tuners, my daisy rock 12 string electric has grovers and the dano has gotoh tuners. whoops, sorry for the hijack

edit: my next electric is going to be a memphis sg, memphis being one of gibsons brands. theyre extremely inexpensive compared to the gibson branded stuff.

is this it?

http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/drill/cat/40/HPSignatureSeries.cfm

Close but no. It may be an older model. I have searched through Peavey catalog for it and could not find it.

It's at the music store where Im giving summer lesson to kids, so if it's there next week, I may see what deal I can work out on it. ;)

Mick

An unknown brand, since someone had refinished it before me (unfortunately) but it's real heavy, has nice ivoroid binding and some great pickups - real early DiMarzios, I think. They are like 11 or 12 ohm - Sound really heavy, and all the pole pieces are adjustable allen head. The body is just heavy plywood though, bolt on neck, so it's nothing special really, just sounds good and I have had it for years.

I've got a couple old Electra Phoenixes hanging on the wall.  I can't play worth a crap.
No matter how fast or how far I rode, I couldn't leave her memory behind.
