my '76 750, almost done.. (w/ pics)
« on: September 04, 2006, 11:10:18 AM »
Hi all, I am nearing completion on my '76 750. here are the before and after pics. I still would like to get a 16" rear wheel anyone know of a cheap way to do this? Anyone have suggestions on turn signals & brakelights, I can't seem to decide on what shape & style (also on a tight budget).

I wouldn't bother with the 16" rim, but of course it's your bike.

You'll find that a lot of the aftermarket aluminum bodied signals' threaded rods actually are the same size/thread as the bolts that hold your headlight bucket onto the ears.  Signals can take those bolts' place making for a nice neat package.

I used ultra-low profile cheap rear signals on my 550F.  Hardly what you'd call legal, but I haven't been told that yet ;)

Bike looks good !
I got lucky and found my 16'' rear allready laced to the correct Honda hub on Ebay.

Just a good cleaning and spoke tightening and on it went.
They are on their , just need to keep an eye out for one..

The turn signals/lights I am running I got outta the Drag Specialties catalogue.
They are labeled as "marker lights" , but I am running them as both running & brake lights.

They come in chrome , but I just recently painted them black...
They are the smallest housings on the market that run a 1157 (dual filament) bulb, and are kick ass bright because the lens
is open all the way around the bulb, for excellent light dispersion. People I ride with say they can see them for blocks with
no issues. I think I paid under $30 for the pair, came with bulbs, and amber lenses in case you wanna use them for front marker/turn signals..

Can't see your photos the Pro.  Do you have a link for what you bought? their fricking site is so big and I can't see everything on their site from my old Mac.

I just picked up a set of those pollished aluminium headlight brackets and want to use the existing holes to mount a new set of front turns without drilling new holes. My stock ones will be way to wide a silly lookin.

I am also looking at those headlight brackets. Mike's XL has them for $29 part#09-0016. I think they look alot better than the stock chrome tubes. I am also leaning towards the chrome controls that they have...$59 a pop. The front end rebuild is getting expensive but I am sure I will like it enough to make it a worthwhile investment. I'm in the process of listing all the parts I need and where I will get them from.I plan on posting this list and recruiting the knowledge and such of members as to the best deals and suppliers I might want to steer away from.
